TDard Saturday – Jump on board!

For quite a while now, listeners to the weekly gaming Podcast TalkRadar have had a weekly play-session, when gamers can jump onto a current or popular video game and play online together. It’s a great way for members of the community to interact, and if you are a new member of the TalkRadar or GamesRadar community then I highly recommend joining in.

How does it work?

The idea originated from one (frankly legendary) session on Halo:Reach, in which several TDards decided that the annual US offices’ 24 hour marathon was simply not enough to satisfy the average TDard. Since we all share a common interest and a similar sense of humour, the suggestion was put forth that every weekend we nominate a game to play in the forums, then come together and have a fun evening online.
 

This idea worked for the first few weeks, but since then it has become far more practical to manage the session on twitter using the hashtag “#TDardSaturday”. The game is usually discussed in this way during the week and then, on Saturday, we can all jump on.

The games vary, but are usually quite fair in terms of being fun, current, and something that everyone actually owns a copy of. So, most often we play Red Dead, Halo, Assassins Creed, Call of Duty, GTA, and the like.

When Can I Play?

Short answer: Saturday at 20:00 GMT and 12:00 PST. This works best internationally. Although it usually goes on for a few hours, so don’t feel too constrained by these times.

Who Else Plays?

Anyone is welcome to play. The usual people online on the 360 are Batman5273, BoxingMarco, MarvelousOnePak (GamesRadarFan), Phazon117, EnlrgedHouseCat, HateBreeder, Breener1996, L0bsterhunt, and myself (MrAnthonyDR). There are many other TDards who do get involved, but those are the main gamertags you would need to watch if you wanted to join.

So far the event has enjoyed participation from GamesRadar staff twice: Mr Antista on Black Ops, and Mr Elston on Hot Pursuit.
