Watch the Next Shuttle Launch Live on your Playstation

Got a Playstation 3? If you do, you might want to take the opportunity to watch the upcoming Shuttle launch streamed live. The event is currently slated for  February 24 at 4:50pm EST.

Launch to be streamed live to Playstation 3

Don't forget that this is one of the final Space Shuttle missions that will ever be launched, so please take advantage of this opportunity to witness essential nerd history. This is one of the coolest missions in a long time; the crew consists of 6 humans and 1 humanoid robot!

The mission will deliver Robonaut 2 to the International Space Station. There, R2 will assist with general Space Station activities, making use of his human-like arms and hands (but lack of need for oxygen). He will be a key part of EVAs (space walks), and in proving that humans and robots can work together in space.

The Robot is also on twitter, as part of NASAs ongoing commitment to recognise modern ways of interaction. Broadcasting this launch on Playstation is another tick in NASAs social check-list. David Weaver, from NASAs office of communications said, "We’re excited about this new way for people to experience the exhilaration of human spaceflight as part of a larger community."

The mission, called "STS-133" will also deliver new a habitable module to the International Space Station, currently orbiting about 200 miles away from Earth.
